Ministries
Every ministry area of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is an extension of the overall commission given to the Church by Jesus himself:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20a (ESV)
Good Shepherd Lutheran School
We as a congregation are committed to establishing a Lutheran School in Charleston and have begun this process. Currently we are well into the process of beginning with an Early Childhood Development program.
Social Ministry
Good Shepherd partners with several area congregations in supporting the ministry of Tricounty Family Ministries (Lutheran Social Services) in North Charleston. We collect food weekly and accept clothing and monetary donations. Check the calendar for designated days during the month when you will find volunteers serving meals and destributing groceries.
Altar Guild
To the glory of God, our Altar Guild volunteers adorn the altar and chancel each week with fresh flowers and paraments in the color of the season. The youth assist regularly as part of their congregational service and Christian training.
Midweek Service of Prayer and Preaching
This regular service ministers to the assisted living residents of Ashley River Plantation and is open to the public. In a very informal setting we hear God’s Word read and preached, sing, and pray; casting our cares upon the Lord.
Islands Lutheran Mission
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church continue to work together with Grace Lutheran Church and the other congregations of our circuit in exploring opportunities for new missions in our region. Please pray with us in support of the newest missions in Beaufort and Lugoff.
