Bio: Peter Moeller
Born Nov. 29th, 1959. Much to his surprise he found that he was not the center of attention as he was the fifth of five sons (with a younger sister to boot). He grew up on a farm near Fairmont,MN. He was very fortunate to be born into a devout LCMS family. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church located in rural MN. His education started in a Christian day school at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont, MN. Went on to a college prep school,Martin Lutheran Academy (WELS) in New Ulm, MN for high school then on to Mankato State University and Bethany Lutheran College simultaneously, ultimately graduating with a triple major double minor in the sciences. Moved to San Diego and attended UCSD earning both Masters and PhD degrees in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. Though he had met Jane Nordlie while attending some classes at Bethany Lutheran College, he bumped into her again in San Diego. Peter and Jane were married Oct of 1986 just before graduation. All just in time to move to Australia for three years (Australian National University) for the first of two post-doctoral stints Peter worked. Jane and Peter were blessed with their firstborn Nathan while down under. A second International fellowship then took them to Vancouver Canada to study chemistry at Univ. British Columbia. Here they had their second child, Bethany. Two years (1992) later Peter and Jane moved to Charleston, with Peter taking up a federal government job running a national program on emerging toxins with NOAA. Here in Charleston they had their two other children, Nicola and Benjamin.
Peter and Jane were instrumental in getting Good Shepherd started as a mission from Grace Lutheran in Summerville, SC. They have been blessed to see this congregation grow and mature in so many ways. Still mission minded they are continuing to work in God's harvest fields looking for new mission fields in the area. They very much love our church family and look forward to seeing Good Shepherd grow in God's grace.
